Sermon on the Mount

Sermon on the Mount Series

Winter/Spring 2009

Mike preached a series of sermons on The Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew Chapters 5-7.

The Sermon on the Mount is all about the development and character of a Christian. When one becomes a Christian they must truly change their hearts. When a heart is changed true happiness is redefined. Once all trust is given to God and complete submission is found – true happiness is no longer about earthly things, but changing one’s heart and attitude to become more like Christ. True happiness is a peace though knowing God’s character and imitating Him.

God’s Dream for Your Life

Matthew 5:3-11 (The Beatitudes)

The opening verses of Matthew 5 are commonly known as the Beatitudes. These eight principles show Christians a daily discipline that teaches how to have an abundant life though God.

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
