Jackie W. Fox started preaching when he was 14. His uncle, who lived across the road, would take him to the preaching appointments that he had. Jackie went to Freed-Hardeman College to study the Bible with the intent of becoming a full time preacher. His first permanent assignment was the small church in Potts Camp, MS. Next he accepted a full time assignment in Holly Springs, MS. He preached at Holly Springs while he attended Freed-Hardeman. He would drive down to Holly Springs on Sunday morning, preach and spend the day there and drive back to Freed-Hardeman in the evening. Jackie and Libby met while they were students at Freed-Hardeman.
After he graduated from Freed-Hardeman, he went to Cookeville, TN and worked with the Willow Ave. church as their youth minister. He attended Tennessee Tech. and majored in Education. He graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1964. After graduating he went back to Holly Springs and became their preacher again. He and Libby Sexton married on February 14, 1965. They made their home in Holly Springs and their first child, Molly, was born in 1970 while they were there.
In 1972 they moved to Nashville and accepted the preacher’s job at River Road church. Their second child, Alan, was born in 1973 during this time.
In 1975 they moved to Decatur, AL where Jackie started preaching for Austinville church. He preached there until he died in 1986. Jackie was 45 when he passed away with Non-Hotchkins lymphoma.
Jackie loved everyone he met and all loved him. He died at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville and is buried in Roselawn cemetery.
